October 15th marked the 100th birthday of Dr. Otto Bettmann, founder of the Bettmann Archive. Corbis, the owner of the Bettmann Archive, is holding a yearlong celebration featuring innovative programs, publications, and charitable giving designed to share and strengthen Dr. Bettmann's legacy. Part of this celebration involves a Bettmann Alumni search in hopes of identifying many of the unknown photographers and subjects whose pictures are contained within the Bettmann Archive. "We have been extremely pleased with the past work Marksmen has done to help us to resolve vital copyright licensing issues", said David Green, Corbis Senior Corporate Counsel "They were the first company we thought of to help us with the Bettmann Alumni search." "It's tough going at times, with a lot of false leads, but something we are very practiced at doing and find extremely rewarding when we do locate them."
