Marksmen Attends INTA’s Brands & Sports Program in NYC
This year marked the first meeting of the International Trademark Association’s Brands and Sports Conference. Marksmen’s Director of Client Relations, Jackie McMahon, attended the event held in New York City, March 15-16. The meeting brought together various INTA members of the sporting world, including marketing experts, legal professionals and brand owners, to discuss the changing landscape of brand protection and sports.
The agenda focused on how to protect brands in a digital world where millions of people have access. Moreover, topics included licensing structures and enforcement challenges for various sports industries, crisis management in the public eye and so much more. Speakers included Ayala Deutsch of NBA Properties, Inc., Cathy Lueders of MasterCard International Inc. and Neil Morton of Everlast Worldwide, Inc. among others. Audience members participated in discussions and asked follow-up questions after each presentation.
The sports and branding conversation couldn’t have come up at a better time. Nearly every office in the United States is currently participating in a mad March bracket pool and the summer Olympics in Rio are just months away. Plus, some estimate the entire sports industry could make upwards of $90 billion in revenue by 2017.
Virginia Cervieri of Cervieri Monsuarez & Associates in Uruguay and Ayala Deutsch of NBA Properties, Inc. were co-charis of the event. You can find the complete overview of the INTA Brands and Sports Program here.
