New generic Top Level Domains (new gTLDs) are being added to the Internet in batches every week (like .GURU, .LONDON, .PHOTO) until ultimately the number of “right side of the dot” registries offering domains will increase to more than 1400 extensions. These include new Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs) as well as specific Community and Geographic top level domains.
What’s not certain is the number of these new domain extensions that will become commercially significant. What is clear by activity surrounding this unprecedented expansion of the name space is that nefarious characters continue to prey on company trademarks and online opportunists are legitimately grabbing “category killers” that could significantly impact corporations.
Marksmen can help. We’re experts at investigating trademark and domain name use and ownership histories, including exploitive domain name registrations, and can anonymously negotiate to purchase and transfer domain names registered in virtually any registry around the world.
